Dogville vs. Pets

I guess these are both about women who are held captive by others. Nicole Kidman in Dogville chooses her predicament out of some weird sense of morality, while the girl in Pets gets involved with a possessive lesbian and a guy who keeps women in a cage. In the end, both women end up freeing themselves, physically and mentally I suppose. Anyway, Dogville is a big heavyhanded ball of depressing that I find to be strangely entertaining. Pets has a lighter tone by comparison, even though it's kind of sleazy and kinky. I like Pets, but Dogville is mesmerizing in its grim pretentiousness.
