Oh, those zany prisoners of war! Grand Illusion may be the "better" film here, but I enjoy Stalag 17 a lot more. William Holden rules...

The Grand Illusion is not merely the better film, but it manages to make a more complete and sweeping statement about the human condition. And besides, there was no Dita Parlo in Wilder's mastrpiece. Interesting commonality, in that not only are both films about German POW camps, but both feature famous German directors as actors.

Enjoyed both, but the nod goes to Stalag...
