I liked the Matador, it was reasonably entertaining, but it's hard to compete with a classic from Jr High, you know? I mean, I saw this movie in English class.

I loved Matador. Brilliant characters, however it pales beside Dead Poets Society.

Originality vs. Retread. I thought Dead Poets Society was silly. It was unoriginal and the "tragedy" at the end was terrible. It was laughably bad. The Matador is a cool and original character study of a man in a line of work that is rarely shown with the same reality that the Matador shows it. I just didn't buy any of what Dead Poets Society was selling. I remember when my class was shown this movie in grade 10 and the teacher flipped when I criticized it because he was so inspired by it. Good times. Matador all the way. The scene at the bullfights puts it way above DPS.
