BenCrouse has got a point. Beyond the obvious similarities, both suffer from let-down reveals despite strong opening acts--an anticlimax due to both the design and purpose of the films respective alien visitors.

I liked the intensity Signs brought to the table, but I loved the sense of wonder Contact has.

Two sci-fis. They are both very similar. I'd have to say Contact because of its existential reach that seem honest.
