Well, both movies do have an unpleasant torture scene. The Wind That Shakes the Barley is about the IRA, and Liam Neeson once appeared in a movie about the IRA. I think those are the only similarities, aside from the shooting. Otherwise, The Wind That Shakes the Barley deals with moral issues regarding vengeance, while Taken is pretty black & white on the subject. You know, I'm going to go with the Barley on this one. Taken has its place, but there's not much to it.

The Wind That Shakes The Barley is a better film than Taken, but Taken is more entertaining, I'll give it that.
