AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! My two favorite superhero movies!! The only flaw in Spidey 2 will cost it in this matchup. If only Spider-man would keep his mask on more often and stop revealing his identity to everyone!

Man! Good fight! I'm leaning towards Spidey here. Just think that Batman was slightly more overrated that Spiderman 2. Both great movies, though.

Spidey 2 is better than the first one, and personally I prefer TDK to Batman Begins. Tough call.

Dark Knight, but I do agree with Dsurprise; Spider-Man risking the loss of his identity so often is so irritating! Still a great movie, though.

Both are among the best sequels ever made; both surpass their very competent predecessors. I love both of these movies. In a way, my preference here is almost dictated by factors other than the movies themselves. On the whole, I prefer Christopher Nolan's work to Sam Raimi's. (Nolan's got three movies in my Top 5, including TDK. Meanwhile, I admittedly have not seen enough of Raimi's work; my favorite of his films, however, is A Simple Plan.) But also, I prefer Batman as a character to Spider-Man. These are my two favorite comic book heroes, and their best movies, but I choose The Dark Knight without too much hesitation. Nothing against Spidey 2; it's a great film.

As two of the best sequels ever made, this is quite a tough call, but 'The Dark Knight' grabs my vote for Heath Ledger's incredible performance.

Spider-Man 2 is simply the better film. I agree with many who say the fight for the top comic adaptation film is between Iron Man 2 and Spider-Man 2. Sorry to all TDK fans.

I always liked Spidey more than Batman, so naturally the superb Spiderman 2 gets my vote here.

I think both movies are great. They have complex villains and work well as sequels, but the Dark Knight overall tells a more satisfying story.

Batman always wins

Spider-Man beats Batman Begins and Spider-Man 2 tops TDK. Will Dark Knight Rises fall prey to Spider-Man 3's overcrowding "have to top a classic" syndrome? Time will tell.

on 1/23/2011

The Dark Knight is far darker more complex and allegorical.

I love both, but without Ledger's greatness, Dark Knight falls off tremendously. Sipdey 2 gets my vote.

Oh man! This is a wonderful pairing because until the dark knight reared its black hood spiderman was the pinnacle of superhero films. Fascinatingly, The Dark Knight goes against everything Spider-Man stands for. Spider-Man is a deeply propagandistic film that supports the Bush era anti-terror actions that steals its propagandistic flourishes from Casablanca ('Heresy' you shout! but think about it giving up the girl for the greater good. Where does that idea originate? Casablanca). The Dark Knight addresses the same era with an opposite view. That said, it is entirely irrelevant to the discussion of what film is better. Or is it. Dark Knight wins.

For me, TDK stands out as a more complete film. The supporting cast is stronger and more fleshed out, the villain is more memorable, and it would take about 500 'No Moar Dead cops' to rival the goofiness of the "You gotta go through me" train scenario. Plus, TDK kills off the non-super powered female character, which leaves a much bigger impact than the whole "damsel gets saved" scenario that we see too many times.

TDK always and forever.

Dark Knight easily.

on 4/14/2012

Extremely difficult.

Two of the best superhero film ever made. TDK wins.

Spider-Man 2. Not as noisy as The Dark Knight.

on 7/31/2012

TDK. Easily.

Before The Dark Knight came out, Spider-Man 2 was the premier comic book movie...Was.

on 2/6/2013

The Dark Knight by far.

I prefer Spidey to Bats, but I do prefer TDK to SM2 as well. Tough one, though.
