Nooooooooooooo- don't make me choose. Ok. Fight Club.
on 7/22/2009
How the hell am I supposed to choose between Fight Club and Dark Knight? I’ve been staring at his for 15 minutes! Ok, Fight club, just.
on 7/30/2009
I like The Dark Knight, but I LOOOOVE Fight Club!
Fight Club, while a good movie, has become so overblown by the young male audience. The Dark Knight is, one way or another, a modern classic, and will be remembered as such far after Fight Club becomes irrelevant. Keep in mind, I love Fight Club. But TDK is the better film, unquestionably.

Although I don't agree that Fight Club will ever become irrelevant, The Dark Knight has become the world standard for comic book movies, 2+ hour epics, and the portrayal of the brooding and the insane in modern cinema. Both of these films are in my top 10, but The Dark Knight is an absolutel masterpiece through and through.

I agree with BigBoss8705. While Fight Club might fall just shy of my top ten (I prefer Se7en, when it comes to Fincher's movies), it's an excellent film. But The Dark Knight is better. It sits at my #2.

Fight Club is a cool exploration and lampooning of fascism, but The Dark Knight is perfect.
Fight Club. No question.

it makes me sad that TDK is up against films like these on these flickchart discussions

Fight Club, undoubtedly the best movie in my mind, but forever ruined by the idiocy of many of its fans. Unfortunately far too many people subscribe only to the film for its pure gore (which I never thought was particularly bad anyway), and the whole 'create anarchy' "ideal" that Tyler proposes, which is of course in no way whatsoever the point or the message of the film. For me, Fight Club is almost completely flawless, and the Dark Knight, while good, is a film I would give 7/10. I think I could literally write a thesis on the greatness of Fight Club alone, let alone why it is better than The Dark Knight, and even a thesis on the reasons why people dislike Fight Club. I think there would be no point however, as it would do not good in convincing most people that it is a better film. What I will say, however, is this: Fight Club wins through its filming, its script, its actors, its soundtrack, its many many messages and themes, its pure entertainment value, and lastly, the rewatch value.

Fight Club unveils new layers upon each viewing, but, while all of its performances are outstanding, no actor transcends acting and becomes the character like Heath Ledger became The Joker. The Dark Knight plays out like a fascinating character piece about The Joker, and the people in the periphery of that story bolster it even more. Fight Club may have Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter, but The Dark Knight has Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

d'ah.... how to decide

The Dark Knight hands-down
Anarchy please.

Fight Club for its fine performances of interesting, sympathetic characters, poignant satire, and compelling visuals that are put together in a tight, well-paced package that is as interesting to watch now as it was a decade ago. The Dark Knight is a top-notch comic book movie that almost transcends its genre thanks to Heath Ledger's definitive portrayal of The Joker, but ultimately the requisite set pieces and grandiose dialogue that make it such an effective hero flick prevent it from being anything more than that.
There is no point in even asking. Fight Club completely destroys The Dark Knight. I don't understand this reverence for The Dark Knight. yea, it was good. But it is not even close to being good enough to be at number one, or even in the top 50.

@Charyou_Tree comparing the number of famous actors in a movie is not a worthwhile measurement. IMO Freeman, Caine, and Gyllenhaal weren't given enough material to fulfill their enormous potentials and ended up contributing very little to the brilliance of the film. and Ledger gave the only performance in that film worth pitting against the genius of Edward Norton Also. I see TDK as just a brilliant job of adapting the Batman's enormous legacy. While on the other hand, Fight Club did something new.

TDK is very, very good. Easily the best of the caped super-hero genre, and really does an excellent job of straining against the limitations of the rules imposed by that storytelling tradition to create something meaningful for those of us who don't live in a pen and ink world. Like TDK, Fight Club also deals in archetypes and ciphers (untraditional and iconoclastic as they may be). But Fight Club, unfettered by any generic concerns (except maybe those of a mystery), roams destructively though our imaginations as a 50 foot high, fire breathing, acid pissing call to action. The Dark Knight is a marvelous film. Fight Club is a life-changing experience.

Really difficult. I liked both, but I think they were both overrated. I guess Fight Club. Maybe. I dunno. It is really hard.
on 3/9/2010
Fight Club…hands down.
on 4/3/2010
I'd tell you the better film but I am not supposed to talk about it...
on 4/12/2010
Both are in my Top 5, and while Heath Ledger gives the performance of his life in The Dark Knight, both Brad Pitt and Edward Norton give the performances of their careers in Fight Club.
on 6/21/2010
this is one of the toughest decisions i think ive had
on 7/24/2010
Dark Knight. And I don't even have to think twice.
on 8/10/2010
Holy shit! I never thought it would have to come down to this. But to be honest I think Fight Club still has the upper hand in this one.
on 8/13/2010
"Tyler Durden:" Welcome to Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club! Third rule of Fight Club: if someone yells "stop!", goes limp, or taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule: one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: the fights are bare knuckle. No shirt, no shoes, no weapons. Seventh rule: fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight." The Fight Club is masterful and quotable. The Dark Knight is a top notch super hero movie with Heath Ledger defining a perfect villain. I personally give an edge to the more thought provoking and emotionally involving Fight Club.
Fight Club
on 8/29/2010
Masturbation IS self-improvement, Maggie Gyllenhaal is NOT beautiful and Fight Club wins the round.
on 10/2/2010
Don't particularly like either of them, but The Dark Knight wins
on 2/14/2011
While Dark Knight is perfectly quotable and Heath Ledger a perfect example in embodying not just a character, but a gleeful sprite of anarchy, when it comes down between Batman and the Greatest Film I've ever viewed....do i hav to finish that thought?
on 4/18/2011
Really hard choice, two of my favorites. But I am giving a slight edge to The Dark Knight.
on 8/4/2011
Fight Club. The finale is fantastic, the acting is great, the writing is deep, and the whole movie is entertaining, providing a certain visual flair. TDK is a very good movie, but I feel that Ledger carried everyone with the exception of Eckhart and Oldman, and is massively overrated.
on 8/5/2011
Fight Club was far more intriguing.
TDK. While fight Club is good, it completely goes off the rails after the 'Big Twist', especially when "Tyler" gets "dragged" upstairs
on 8/14/2011
The dark knight!
on 8/17/2011
bolth movies are cool but come on fight club is deep and makes u think bat man is just wow cool explosion this is not even close its not even a thing that is worth discussing fight club for the win
on 10/21/2011
Dark Knight.
on Nov 11
I am the Joker's sense of moral responsbility. Tyler Durden achieved so much more than the Joker. Therefore I have to side with Fight Club.
TDK for me. I have watched Fight Club multiple times...it just doesn't work for me. I'm not captain of TDK fan club by any means, but it thumps Fight Club.
on Saturday
Fight Club is amazing, it beats The Dark Knight only by a little bit.
on Monday
Im saying Dark Knight
Yesterday
Fight Club was very great but not very amazing. The Dark Knight is very amazing.
