two of The greatest films... one, the final work of The Greatest Director and the other being the Best Work by a great director... decisions...

Extremely hard choice but I have to go with the final masterpiece of the Greatest DIrector.

two excelent movies, but eyes wide shut is more than a movie, is a genius work of art.

Nolan's best vs Kubrick's worst. TDK, but Kubrick is one of the few guys who, like Nolan, has never made a bad film.

"The Dark Knight" completely satisfied me as a Bat-fan and its rich social allegories engaged me intellectually. But "Eyes Wide Shut" got under my skin in a way few movies ever have. It gets the nod.

Which one will be more important in 10 years?

I get pumped watching Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight! Amazing.

I agree with Reelz, Eyes Wide Shut will (hopefully) be considered a masterpiece in the near future, whereas some of The Dark Knight's excellence will slightly fade. Although, right now I'm with the masses and choosing The Dark Knight.

Yeah who knows, maybe The Dark Knight won't age well. For the time being I definitely prefer it in this matchup though.

I agree. I will also choose TDK though. Nolan over Kubrick.

Both are great for sure. I'm giving Batman the win for obvious reasons.

The Dark Knight for me, I do owe EWS a rewatch though but I can't picture it overtaking TDK in my rankings.

A brainless action movie that is only a bit better than Marvel movies vs. One hell of an mindbender, well done movie. I do like TDK, but it ain't got nothing on EWS.

The dimples at the small of Nicole Kidman's back just above her perfect ass forever framed on film is THE work of art in that movie.

The dimples at the small of Nicole Kidman's back just above her perfect ass forever framed on film is THE work of art in that movie. Everything else is ridiculous.

Good matchup! The Dark Knight is considered to be one of the best films of all time and Eyes Wide Shut is considered to be one of the most underrated films of all time. The Dark Knight is a comic book movie with psychological layers, gritty realism and smart plot points. It is an incredibly well made and emotionally satisfying film. Is it in my top 20-30? No. Is Eyes Wide Shut? Absolutely! I will always defend Eyes Wide Shut. The themes about money, death, relationship and the sub-conscious are portrayed in a very unique and compelling way. It's slow and very artistic driven, which is what I want in a film. Two characters in a room talking, slowly and carefully where the audience has to take every line of information in. The artistic "dream-like" style is beautiful. The blurry colours and lights, the shadows and some scenes feel like something out of a nightmare. And when the movie ends, life simply goes on and if it's a "happy ever after" ending is left up to the audience. It got under my skin, like few movies have. I was engaged in The Dark Knight but the layers Eyes Wide Shut is way I keep going back! God, I wish more people loved it!

For better or worse, Nolan could never direct a film like Eyes Wide Shut.

the dark knight is great, but eyes wide shut is an absolute masterpiece in every way

The dark knight wins

i am tempted to go with eyes wide shut but I will stand with tdk

Eyes wide shut kept thinking about the whole movie for a whole week. While I admire the dark knight I think Kubrick is on another level.
