As much as I love The Dark Knight, I love the darkness of American Psycho more. The film is the perfect metaphor for the 80's.

I disagree. The book might be a good metaphor for the 80's but the film that best symbolizes that decade is Oliver Stone's "Wall Street". American Psycho, the film, was disappointing because it was afraid to get too close to the book. Dark Knight wins.

I gotta agree with the Movie Whore on this one.

I disagree and agree with many points from all of you. Christian Bale is a really gifted actor and his performances on both these films work on every level (though the Batman voice took some getting used to, lol). I have never read the book and I completely agree with The Movie Whore -- it stands on its own merits. It all comes down to which of these two great films had me thinking more by the end of it -- and that's American Psycho.

If I was voting for Bale's best performance I'd vote for American Psycho but Dark Knight is the better film.

I love Nolan's Batman, but I love my American Psycho more. (And I agree, Christian is amazing in both roles, but American Psycho is his best.)

Gotta go with TDK again on this one. I love Bale's psychotic performance in American Psycho, "I gotta return some video tapes" but TDK is just so much more better on a whole.
