Nolan's best vs. Fincher's best. Probably my two favorite currently working directors, but Chris Nolan has made three of my top five movies on Flickchart. At #10, Se7en, brilliant as it is, is Fincher's highest on my list.

I am surprised how easily I am picking Se7en here.

I'm surprised how easily you're picking Se7en here. I understand picking it...but "easily"??

I'm easily picking The Dark Knight but Seven was terrific.

on 5/12/2010

Actually, thinking back on this match, I realize that each contains one of my all-time favorite performances (actually, Se7en has two), and they're pretty much tied for my picks for All Time Greatest Movie Villains.

on 7/5/2010

Se7en continues to slowly climb up my list as TDK continues to slowly descend.

on 9/2/2010

Going with Fincher here. Se7en is STILL creepy.

on 9/4/2010

Yeah, gotta go with Se7en. TDK is still awesome, but it's definitely lost its luster. Se7en, on the other hand....

I think both Nolan and Fincher have now made better movies (Inception/The Social Network), but in this matchup, I'm picking The Dark Knight.

on 4/15/2011

Im not sure but is possibly The Dark Knight that is best.

on 11/7/2011

This is a bloody tough one... I think in the long run it might be Se7en that wins out.

on 11/9/2011

for me i could either pick the movie that is very entertaining and has a few good performances , or the movie that is very entertaining has good performances, and changed the way i see the world and all the people in it... se7en is easily the better film..to me.

on 11/10/2011

I'll echo everyone else...very difficult choice. Both are masterpieces for their respective genres....Se7en by a hair....

Dark knight easily

on 11/16/2011

Being such a huge Batman fan my whole life, The Dark Knight blew me away when I saw it. Se7en is just on another level, in my opinion. Se7en had such tense scenes that I was fighting to catch my breath when I first saw it. Maybe in time, Dark Knight will surpass it, but for now, it's Seven.

on 12/2/2011

I have changed my mind, Se7en is much better than that overrated movie to The Dark Knight is.

on 12/2/2011

TDK is, of course, overrated. Seven is, of course, wonderfully crafted. I just wonder if i have the required virtues to sit through Se7en again without succombing to it's slowish pace. I'm not sure. I did love it the last time I watched it so let's hold tight to the memories.

on 2/19/2012

Both fantastic films but Im giving this one to The Dark Knight.

on 3/6/2012

Tough call.I'll pick Se7en.

on 3/6/2012

Both are great films with classic villains, but The Dark Knight had the better ending. The Dark Knight for the Win!

on 3/10/2012

Dark Knight.

on 3/10/2012

Se7en, without a doubt.

on 4/17/2012

Se7en by a mile.

on 7/10/2012

I'm joking. I love both my kids.

on 7/17/2012

Se7en is much darker than The Dark Knight. And while I do believe Heath was splendid as The Joker, Spacey's impact in the last 20 minutes of the film almost escalates it to another level. His performance is chilling and completely steals the show. That's a miracle considering the little screen time he had. Spacey's flawless performance gives Se7en the edge. Also, Se7en's ending obliterates The Dark Knight's ending. And TDK's ending was great.

on 7/28/2012

It has to be Se7en.

on 7/28/2012

Whoa, PiccoloKing, you sure love Se7en. Can't blame you though, I do too.

on 11/27/2012

I will also pick Se7en. Dark Knight definitely needs a re-watch.

on 2/5/2013

Nice match

on 2/5/2013

Dark Knight doesn't need a rewatch for me. Saw it in theaters, bought it the first day it came out and watched every day for about a week. Everyday my coworkers would ask "What did you do last night, watch Batman?" and I'd say "Yep." Watched it about 3 or 4 times since too. So yeah, I kind of like it.

on 2/6/2013

The Dark Knight for me, but Se7en is brilliant.

on Apr 9

Both overall two top tenners, but The Dark Knight has more emotion and heart.

on Thursday

There is no beating the visceral suspense of Se7en.

on Thursday

Love both, but Dark Knight is such a well-made movie from start to finish whereas I felt Se7en was had a good start, a great finish, and a ho-hum middle. DK for me.

Yesterday

Se8en.

Fincher, I love you, and if this was Fight Club vs. Dark Knight, you would take it, but I'm giving this to Chris Nolan's masterpiece.
