Melancholia vs. The Royal Tenenbaums

I don't love either. I like both. Need to rewatch both. For now Melancholia

The Royal Tenenbaums probably captures my tastes better as far as aesthetics go, and I enjoy the whimsical melancholy thing. The characters are all flawed and quirky, and I feel that they have a likable humanity to them. Melancholia is more about my worldview, I guess. When it all comes down to it, everything is BS when the world's about to end. I try to keep that in mind throughout each day. Might as well accept it gracefully. But, yeah, Tenenbaums has more mood enhancing power. There is a certain darkly uplifting message in Melancholia, but not executed with quite the charm as Tenenbaums.

Melancholia easily. The Royal Tenenbaums was like a really bad sitcom about some of the biggest losers on the planet. Made me embarrassed to witness their trainwreck lives.
