Two outstanding, ultra-violent works. I'll take Gone Girl for its subtlety and multi-layered story and nuance.
Both were great movies in a great year for movies.

Gone Girl is Fincher firing on all cylinders and is a spectacular film. Even though I know where the story is going, it's such an addicting film to watch over and over. I know a lot of people dig it, but I strongly disliked Snowpiercer.
