Howard Keel was MGM's go-to man when they needed a leading male who's primary talent was singing (dancing and it'd be Gene Kelly). He could be quite charismatic, but he could also be quite wooden. Annie Get Your Gun sees him in the latter mode opposite the irritating Betty Hutton, whose voice most closely resembles a foghorn. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers features Keel's best performance after Kiss Me Kate, so it wins here.
