Both excellent war movies, but as good as Hacksaw is, it simply cannot compare to the sheer level of film-making and prowess that can be found throughout Saving Private Ryan.

I borderline hated the first half of Hacksaw Ridge, but the rest of the film was unbelievable. The scenes on the ridge were some of the best war scenes I have ever seen. However, Saving Private Ryan is just a more complete film and war story. Saving Private Ryan is a better movie on the whole, and that's why it gets my vote

I agree that the first half of Hacksaw isn't very entertaining, but the second half more than makes up for it. Still, Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece, from beginning to end, giving it the nod for me.

saving private ryan is in a whole other league
Hacksaw Ridge because more God is always better.

If it wasn't for all the God-pandering I might have seriously gone with Hacksaw, but I'll give this one to Spielberg
