My Fair Lady vs. Carousel

Movie musicals often suffer from having less energy than their stage counterparts. This is true of both of these films, even though they remain highly respectable examples of the genre. If I were to choose merely based on the soundtrack, I'd go for Carousel. Although the score is somewhat simplified (particularly unfortunate in the case of the bench scene), the singing is sublime. But director Henry King lacks George Cukor's assured touch, which makes My Fair Lady the winner here.
