The Hustler vs. Hud

Did Paul Newman play the same character in EVERY movie? I'm just kidding (but not really).

Hud>The Hustler

He played the same character best in Hud.

Paul Newman defined a generation of angst-fuelled young men that have trouble facing up to their problems. Hud ends on a lot more tragic note, focusing on the death of the American Dream. The Hustler is about blending talent with character -- spiritually succeeding in that light. Both films rank highly in the echelon of all-time classics, yet I find myself siding with Hud. The modern twist on the anti-western and bleak atmospheric tone are perfected by Martin Ritt.

This surprises me. I'm going with The Hustler...
