Well, these are both about a woman sticking it to a guy who probably had it coming. And these are both pretty long. Ran has the epic-nes going for it. Jackie Brown has funkiness and pathos. Because Ran plays like a grand drama rather than offering characters that are relatable on a regular level, it's more of a spectacle. I'm not sure if that's a criticism, but I just like more regular folks most of the time. Even if they're criminals.
