One - 2001: A Space Odyssey - is bizarre and better for it. The other - 8 1/2 - is bizarre and, well, let's put it this way: about all that came out of my first viewing of it was a headache.

8 1/2 really did nothing for me.
Both are brilliant, but I think 2001 is slightly better.

kubrick is the bes... oh wait, fellini is even bett... um.... blind pick, toss up
8 1/2 is considered brilliant by most. I consider it sleep inducing. 2001.....

This is like choosing between a punch in the face and a kick in the balls. I don't love 2001 by any means, but 8 1/2 is about the most grating, eye-rolling, self-aggrandizing thing I've ever seen committed to film.
