Bridesmaids vs. Young Adult

Young Adult was amazing. Everything that Bridesmaids could've been. Kristen Wiig just has this sadness about her that made me resentful of the forced attempts at OMG HILARITY. Not that Young Adult was without flaws but they were the types of thing where I could go: okay, I guess I could see that. Although it was really just one line. That the wife invited her because she was obviously depressed but how did anyone know that? She was hiding in the mini-apple and it didn't seem like she was the type to come back and visit. And there were actual laughs that happened organically. The only real laugh I remember having during Bridesmaids was when the random lady on the plane said she had a dream about the plane crashing and Wiig was on it. Although, it might've been the only thing that hadn't been spoiled about the movie for me, so that's why it caught me off guard but for some reason, I doubt if I went in to the movie not knowing about things like shitting in a sink that I would've laughed at it. If something's funny, something's funny.

I wanted Young Adult to be so much more. Oswalt killed it. I agree with a lot of the above...Bridesmaids was completely forced, but I was more entertained by it than YA. The Maids it is....

Bridesmaid had more to say and it was side splitting funny.

Loved the laughs in Bridesmaids, but I was very surprised at the understated sadness and desperation of Young Adult.
