Really? No one has commented on this after all this time? I saw both during their original theatrical releases, and both with attentive, enthusiastic audiences. CLOVERFIELD was taut and tense, but INDEPENDENCE DAY was wall-to-wall, unapologetic fun. We've had 20 years of emulators, but few have gotten its formula right. It gets the nod.
