Caligula vs. Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom

A 1970s historical abberations double feature. Salo has worse stuff in it, but is a better made film... so it wins, barely. I never want to see either movie again though.

What I can say for Salo is that I was never bored. Caligula bored me. Maybe just showing orgies with elaborate sets isn't enough. And a couple of sex scenes went on way too long, distracting from what little story there was. Salo isn't the profound statement some make it out to be, but it is more entertaining in its depravity. Even with all the star power Caligula is dull. Helen Mirren barely does any acting, and Peter O'Toole isn't in it long enough.

Sali. It's more filmic if anything.
