Close Encounters of the Third Kind is better. Don't get me wrong, both are great! If I walked in on someone watching either, I'd certainly sit down with them if they invited me. However, only one of these movies has aliens, and I'm a sucker for movies about aliens, and just movies that make you feel small in the universe in general.
