I didn't think it was possible for a Humphrey Bogart movie to be boring, but In a Lonely Place proved me wrong. The Big Sleep may be sloppy, but it's never at all boring. Easy choice...
In a Lonely Place is fantastic and it wins a close on here.

The big sleep is far too messy to make any sense and Bogart plays the fast-talking, no nonsense private detective while In a lonely place has a wild twist at the end. Bogart is not the likeable anti-hero this time and is instead far more villainous. In a lonely place beats the big cliche.
