I will always go back and forth on these two movies. Spacey is great in both but steals the show in The Usual Suspects. The rest of the cast is great in both but Crowe and Pearce work great together in L.A. Confidential.

No matter how great the movie, if it depends on a single actor's great performance and a twist ending, it has 2 significant weaknesses. Story wins over storytelling devices...

L.A. Confidential tells a gripping story that outshines The Usual Suspects and its famed twist ending.

I only saw The Usual Suspects once, and wasn't all that impressed. Frankly, I can't remember if the ending had been spoiled for me or not. Meanwhile, saw L.A. Confidential for the second time recently, and was really blown away. It was better than I had remembered it being.

With a fantastic cast consisting of heavyweights like Russel Crowe, Kevin Spacey and Guy Pearce, this tale of murder and corruption is a must-watch. L.A. Confidential ftw!

I've seen L.A Confidential about five times so far and I somehow found it better with each viewing. It's something really special about how the story unfolds and how even the most diametrically opposed characters seem to interrelate and end up fighting the same battle in the end.

Usual Suspects.

Close one, but The Usual Suspects pulls it out in the end. Just a terrific movie altogether.

I think I'll go with L.A. Confidential.

L.A Confidential. Usual Suspects is overrated.
