Lola vs. Drowning by Numbers

Most of what I've read about Lola mentions the use of color in the film. I agree. Everything is bathed in color, which makes the film striking visually. There's something about the acting in Fassbinder flicks that doesn't always gel with me, though. It seems stagey or something, but in an aloof way. Drowning by Numbers is my favorite Greenaway film that I've seen. His movies also have a distinct style that is at times grating. Drowning by Numbers manages to make that style likable rather than annoying. The story and characters didn't do much for me, and so all I had to occupy myself was pretty colors.

That last sentence was referring to Lola, just to clarify.
