Gena Rowlands is somewhere between magnetic and irritating in A Woman Under the Influence. Sometimes it seems like she's acting, rather than being the character. I love Peter Falk in the movie, though. What I do enjoy about the film is that it seems real, and so I'm sucked right in. Sans Soleil suffers somewhat from the narration, which becomes intrusive at times. I prefer the movie most when there are just the images without commentary. Either way, I don't think Sans Soleil is as consistent in its ability to maintain interest like A Woman Under the Influence does.
