Chinatown vs. Raging Bull

Two very fine made films that have near perfect direction. Raging Bull takes the edge for Robert De Niro alone.

Raging Bull by a mile.

Both are great, but just one look at De Niro as La Motta and I can't vote against Raging Bull.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but I prefer Chinatown. It's just more my type of film. I love mystery, film-noir, femme fatale, and a rich plot. Chinatown has all this and more. Love the matchup featuring De Niro in his mid 30's vs. Nicholson in his mid 30's. If I be honest, Raging Bull has the edge acting wise, but for the reasons mentioned above, I simply enjoy Chinatown more.

Scorsese and DeNiro is one of the best duos in cinematic history and Raging Bull is one of the most emotional and well written scripts of all time... but I honestly found Chinatown more compelling and thrilling...
