Thor vs. GoodFellas

wooooooow so close! just kidding

GoodFellas beats Thor, but I can't understand why it's so loved...

The amazing acting from Robert De Niro is barely used to its full potential in GoodFellas, unlike Raging Bull and Taxi Driver. In GF he just plays an asshole who just isn't as much of an asshole as Joe Pesci's character, with zero depth unlike Jake Lamotta and Travis Bickle. The sheer drama in RB and the masterfully complex story of Travis Bickle in TD both demolish GoodFellas in my book, which is like my no.4 Scorsese film. No idea why it always seems to be in so many at least top 20 lists. So what if it has a few long takes? That adds extremely little to the story but gets so much praise. Thor was pretty good I guess, but I didn't need it. GoodFellas was good, but more in the same range of Kubrick's lesser known films, so still, The Godfather lite wins here.
