Another day, another random Corey Yuen match-up. This one's closer than Yes, Madam/So Close, though. I think Transporter is one of the finest modern examples of "turn off your brain" action cinema. It's dumb as hell, but it's also mighty slick and who DOESN'T like Beemers? And you can imagine how surprised I was when I found out that the dude from Snatch could hold his own in a fight scene. Buuuut...Jason Statham is no Yuen Biao. That is one bad motherfucker. Lack of Yuen Biao means an automatic disqualification for The Transporter.

Best screen acrobat ever. Ever. If it was just Cynthia Rothrock, this might've been tough cause I do rate The Stath!

I gave it some thought and I can't disagree with you. I think you know by now how much I love Jackie, but if there's anything Yuen Biao's better at, it's acrobatics. I'd put Knockabout against anything Jackie's ever done. That fucking ending, dude...

Have you read Jackie Chan's autobiography 'My Life In Action'? I may have mentioned it before, it's a really enjoyable read. Anyway, there's a point in it where he talks about the first time he met Yuen Biao. Jackie was already a student at the Peking Opera House (along with the school bully Sammo and all the other famous names) when a young Yuen Biao was dropped off and enrolled. Apparently the kid was so depressed and crying so much that Jackie had to teach him to sommersault just to get his mind off of his troubles. Well, the word is Biao nailed it first time. If I recall, Jackie said the guy was just born to be an acrobat, a real natural talent.

I haven't. But after reading that story I probably will. I really wish he'd do more stuff, but from what I gather, he only does TV stuff nowadays. It's a shame, really, because I'm sure he's still got it. Thanks for the recommendation!

You might like Wing Chun the TV series (assuming you haven't already checked it out). My memory of it is a bit hazy and I haven't actually seen that many episodes, but you can't go wrong with Yuen Biao, Sammo Hung and Nicholas Tse (loved his elegant kicks in Dragon Tiger Gate).

I've heard of it, but no, I haven't seen it. I'll give Yesasia a look and see if they have it.
