two sequels which continue the story with out retreading the same ground and both work as stand alone films and middle chapters too bigger trilogies.

Both are masterpiece Dreamworks sequels that go darker and more mature without loosing sight of the heart and fun... but ultimately I give the edge to How to Train Your Dragon 2.
