Turn of the century takes on Charles Dickens. Both take liberties with their sources, but for me there's still an easy winner here, and it's not the one some would pick: the TNT David Copperfield. Unlike the BBC Great Expectations, it retains the book's humor, and Hugh Dancy's David is more likable and charismatic than Ioan Gruffud's bitter and vindictive Pip. I also tend to like its cast, pacing, and music better. Bravo to TNT.
