Separated by nearly a century, these two movies attempted to do nearly the same thing, and they share a lot in common... The Witch is one of the most artful of recent horror films, but Haxan is on a whole 'nother level.

It's true, there are a lot of similarities and Häxan IS a great movie with awesome imagery. The thing is, I was able more to appreciate it than to like it. The Witch, the English version that is, is much more my cup of tea and to me it just seems like the obvious pick.
