The Magnificent Ambersons vs. George Washington Slept Here

Two flawed films from 1942 that I love despite everything. George Washington Slept Here is magnificently funny (Ann Sheridan, Percy Kilbride, and Charles Coburn are particularly wonderful) and much better than the play it is based on, but it has its dated/corny moments, especially near the end. The Magnificent Ambersons would have been one of the greatest movies of all time had the studio not interfered, and it's still a work of art, despite some odd narrative breaks and a sub-par ending (again, still not as bad as the book's). Although GWSH is arguably the more complete movie, I've got to give this to the Ambersons.
