I love "It's A Wonderful Life," but I just saw "The Best Years of Our Lives," and it definitely deserved the Best Picture Oscar for the year.

i like it's a wonderful life a lot, but the best years of our lives has an honesty and aesthetic appeal that just really surprises for a movie with its subject matter from 1946. I guess while rossellini was making paisan and the archers were making a matter of life and death, america had this.

Pure greatness in film making. The Best Years of Our Lives simply packs more impact.
