Kingdom of Heaven vs. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

While Orlando Bloom was probably not the best LOTR cast-member to borrow, Ridley Scott's KINGDOM OF HEAVEN really shows that he's a director better-suited to this material. Too bad audiences were all tired of this kind of film after three years of LOTR, because it's better than any of the three in quality. Story, writing, acting, effects, action -- any category you would care to name, KINGDOM has LOTR beat. Especially the Director's Cut, which shows that this film was always meant to be compared to the great epics, like LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, QUO VADIS, EL CID, FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE, etc. But I do love FELLOWSHIP quite a bit, so this isn't completely cut-and-dry...
