Two controversial sequels... Neither was terribly bad. Both were fun, and nothing can be funner than Indiana Jones.

Here's a good example of how a rotten movie can completely degrade a perfectly good character. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones was a real badass with a classic movie hero vibe. Crystal Skull turned him into a punchline. What Crystal Skull and X-Men Origins: Wolverine have in common is that CGI bullshit received far more screen time than character development. None of the characters matter in either movie. They are no more real than the CGI they share the movie with. X-Men Origins wins this mostly because the ending of Crystal Skull was so astoundingly idiotic and anticlimactic that I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. X-Men Origins was shit, don't get me wrong, but Crystal Skull was the clear overachiever here.

Hate Crystal Skull, but it's still far more competently made than Wolverine. Crystal Skull (sigh) wins.
