William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet vs. Moulin Rouge

Baz Luhrmann is one of those directors. He's definitely talented and he's got an interesting style, but I just don't like his films. I'll give this one to Romeo Juliet, if only because the source material is better.

Oh god. i guess i hate romeo + juliet less(?)

Hmm...a film where the dialogue doesn't work, or a film where the music doesn't work? Romeo + Julliet to me looks like Baz Luhrmann thought "y'know, Pulp Fiction was good, but how do I top it...OFCOURSE! SHAKESPEARE." The end result is just awkward. Moulin Rouge is just annoying. Cut cut cut love love love cut love cut love cut love cut cut love love cut love. In a nutshell, that's the film. And it had Ewan McGregor singing. *Shiver*. I guess I'll go awkward over annoying.

Romeo and Juliet is great source material but Shakespeare would roll over in his grave with the Baz version. Moulin Rouge was delightfully entertaining and wins here.

I'll go with Moulin Rouge...
