The Last House on the Left vs. Edge of Darkness

A couple of movies about taking revenge over a daughter being harmed by evildoers. The bastards in Edge of Darkness were corporate/political evildoers, while The Last House on the Left involved murderous rapist-types. Both movies tacked on an unnecessary ending that kind of undermined my overall enjoyment, but Edge of Darkness got on my nerves the most in that regard because it went for the schmaltzy crap. Overall, I guess the good man vs. corrupt system story in Edge of Darkness just seemed kind of stale. Not that The Last House on the Left was original, but it did have a more effectively visceral punch to it. Maybe I'm just tired of Mel Gibson taking revenge on people.
