Pacific Rim vs. Independence Day

...Same aliens? If you compare the scenes where one character explains the motivations of aliens then yeah, they're pretty much the same. Even the designs are pretty similar. But anyway, while I find these films to be about as entertaining (I don't know how Pacific Rim will hold up after a couple of rewatches though), Pacific Rim is easily the better film. Better shot, better effects, far less annoying characters, bigger emotional core, no dumbass finale and no "superdog". Pacific Rim is essentially this year's Independence Day, as it is about as cheesy as a Roland Emmerich film, but I do think it is a great film.
