the kind of argument flickchart was made for. yeah, "match point" is essentially a remake of crimes--but it adds a lovely hitchcockian suspense angle that crimes didn't have. plus, it delves deeper into issues of class and social mobility. i love them both, but match point's the better film.

I need to rewatch "Crimes", but I recall liking it quite a bit. "Match Point" really stuck with me, though, so it has my vote.

A strange man defecated on my sister....need i say more?

Crimes and Misdemeanors is definitely the more sterotypical Woody Allen movie but Match Point is a better film. I feel it has both a better message (that although luck is key to success, it is our choices that make us who we are i.e. a lucky man isnt necessarily a good man) and is more successful in making that statement. Crimes and Misemeanors, though it gets across its point rather well, is a much less fufilling as a film.

Match Point is good, but Crimes and Misdemeanors is a much better telling of a similar story.
