2 very similar films about a black man being wrongfully accused of a crime and sent to prison for years while the family does everything they can to prove his innocence. Both are beautifully shot and well acted but I have to give the vote to Crown Heights because Beale Street is way too sappy for my tastes and felt like a soap opera half the time.
