The Witch in a way is The Shining's modern day spiritual successor, perfecting the psychological macabre and creepy atmosphere to perfection. They're both top notch films.

Both very good creepy movies, Sadly, The Witch being one of the best horror movies of the past 10 years or so still doesn't top The Shining which is one of the best of all time but that in no way detracts from The Witch's undeniable greatness.
