Oh my gosh, of course The Sound of Music.
Home Alone is a cute movie that never fails to entertain, but The Sound of Music is a much better movie (although I can understand why somebody else might hate it).

Home Alone is not without its charms, but the last act is probably just a little too sadistic (and not funny enough in its savagery). Easy win for the flawed but well made The Sound of Music
