The Umbrellas of Cherbourg vs. Repulsion

This really should have been commented on since its a classic (if very unorthodox) 60s matchup of two films starring the great Catherine Deneuve. She was 20 at the time of "The Umbrellas..." which made her a star and a year later, gives in a radically different performance a year later in "Repulsion". What a start to a career! Watched both very recently and liked both a lot though I'm going with Repulsion here. Amazing performance, strong themes, incredible atmosphere and I just love how avant-garde it gets. The moment with Deneuve and the window will be etched in my memory for a long time. Haunting.

For me....it's easily Repulsion...

Definitely Repulsion for me. It is one of Polanski's best. The atmosphere throughout the film is classic Polanski. Umbrellas is very good though for a film that is 100% singing.
