I am glad to see Planes, Trains and Automobiles made the cut. Great movie, but I can't pick it because I haven't seen Home for the Holidays.
Often imitated but never duplicated, PT&A really sets the bar for the Holiday Gone Wrong archetype while also being one of the top 5 Buddies Who Aren't Buddies films. H4TH isn't bad but pretty forgettable - plays the Casio to Planes Trains and Automobiles' Rolex.
Steve Martin's a genius, John Candy I've never been a fan of. Home for the Holidays is quirky enough to give it the edge.
