Even Fincher's botched attempt kills the utter disappointment that was Jackson's Rings follow-up.

Aw, man, I like Kong. And don't go blaming Fincher for what Alien 3 turned into! It's not his fault (at least, not entirely). If you've ever watched the making-of documentary that's on the Alien Quadrilogy DVD set, you'll know what I'm talking about. It's easily the most fascinating of the special features, and really details how Fincher was screwed by the studio from the get-go on that movie. What I love about Alien 3 is that you can see bits of Fincher's eventual genius shining through, even in that scattershot movie. My biggest problem with Kong, meanwhile, is that it's too long. But I do enjoy everything in it...

King Kong offers better entertainment value and apart from the cheesy romance between Naomi Watts and Adrien Brody, the action is incredible.
