Rope vs. The Shawshank Redemption

I'm going to go ahead cast the only vote that Rope will get in this matchup.

Wrong, sir.

Let the Redemption begin.

Rope

Very, very wrong, sir.

I’ve never been so happy to be wrong… I just know that Rope has more than its share of critics that dismiss it as a failed experiment by Hitchcock while Shawshank is ceremoniously heralded as a modern day masterpiece. I love Shawshank, but there’s just something about Rope that reels me in from the opening credits of somber yet tranquil music and the cars and people that just move lazily about on the streets below. And that very window in the background throughout the entire film adds a surrealistic mood and feel to the whole experience. Shawshank is probably the correct answer for “best” movie of the two, but I personally like Rope better. I’m happily surprised to see that I’m not alone. Now the Shawshank voters will flood the polls after I submit this comment. In 5, 4, 3….

At my signal, unleash flood.

Yeah, that.

I'll stop the flood. Shawshank Redemption was ridiculously overrated, while Rope was a bit underrated...
