OFFICE SPACE is the instant favorite, of course, but THIS IS 40 spoke to its audiences on a certain level with a certain candor that's become all too rare in mainstream cinema. It gets the nod.

Yup. This Is 40 is enjoyable enough because each and every character is a spineless, selfish dickface. It's pretty cool as a deconstruction of conventional (read: retarded) relationships (read: sacrifices). Office Space squats over it though.

A bunch of manufactured conflict with baudy humor and over-baked characters doesn't equal brilliant film-making. Rare? I'd argue that it's entirely too common. Office Space all day.
This is 40 is a standard Apatow fare....about 30 minutes too long. It was funny....but doesn't sniff Office Space.
