King Lear vs. Romeo and Juliet

'Tis the bard! This is a toughie for me. Aesthetically, Zefirelli's film is obviously far superior to the Olivier KL performance -- the cinematography is gorgeous and has there ever been anything like Rota's theme music? I didn't think so. But the acting in the TV version of King Lear far outstrips the performances of the young Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting. I'm thinking particularly of the excellent Diana Rigg as Regan. That woman could turn people to stone with a single stare.

The acting in Lear is great but from the setting to the music Romeo and Juliet 1968 might be the best verson and a masterpiece.
