Watch All the Best Picture Nominees Before the Oscars — In Theaters
If you’ve only seen two or three of this year’s Best Picture Oscar nominees… well, you’ve still seen more than me since I’ve only managed to see one. Don’t worry, though, there’s a way you can squeeze in all the rest of them — in theaters — before the ceremony on February 22.
That’s thanks to the magic of the AMC Best Picture Showcase.
For the last couple of years, AMC Theatres has offered film nuts a chance to binge watch all the Best Picture nominees films over two days at participating theaters, and this year they’re doing it again. On February 14th, they’re showing The Grand Budapest Hotel, Whiplash, Birdman, and Selma. The next Saturday, February 21, you can see Boyhood, The Theory of Everything, The Imitation Game, and American Sniper.
Don’t want to spend two separate days watching movies? Well, if you live near the six major cities who have signed up for this, you can go for the 24-hour marathon on February 21st. Boyhood kicks things off at 10 a.m., and The Grand Budapest Hotel ends it at 3:45 a.m. the next morning. I’ve never been brave enough to try this one, but I’m seriously considering it this year since there are only eight nominees.
I’ve participated in this event on and off since they began, and it’s well worth it. They do give you time to get dinner in between two of the evening films, and you get a $10 gift card you can use for concessions, so if you want soda and popcorn for ALL your movies, you can offset that cost a little bit.
They’ll also often do trivia in between movies, so if you know your movies, you can win posters, soundtracks, and T-shirts. One year I won a T-shirt that was apparently a Japanese promotion for Rango. It looked like this:

Most of the prizes are less confusing.
Reserve your tickets, grab your friends, and watch or rewatch all the nominees to finalize your ballot! Check out participating theaters, showtimes, and prices at AMC.
